Write about the most powerful passage in your novel.
1.) What was the passage/event?
2.) Describe in great detail why you feel this passage/event from the story had a profound impact on you. Be sure to include details and examples from the novel.
The paggage/event in the book i would choose would be the part when Johnny dies from his back injury... I think it was the most powerful event in the story because it shows the thin line between life and death. It effected the way i thought of the character Dally too, what i mean by this is the author set out to make him a stone cold person who always gets in trouble by the law, and always sees death, but when Johnny died... He lost it and went and got himself shot by the police. It was also depressing finishing off an amazing book with two of the characters dying.
ReplyDeletei also choose the part when Johnny dies because it shows that the worst part about gangs & why hey are bad. It is legit how gang members are dying constantly in gang wars. It may impact on lives to show how dying as a hero is the best thing to die as, not some quiet kid that is wierd & has no friends with the messed up family.
ReplyDeleteI choose when Johnny and Dallas both die. When Johnny died it did not surprise me but it was sad. He was in the hospital with a lethal back injurie,I thought he would die from that. When Dallas died it did surprise me. Also, I was not sure why he did that. He got shot by the police. I thought Dally was not the kind of person who would do that! He didn't even move, that confused me.

ReplyDeleteThe most powerful passage to me was when Dally heard about Johnny dieing. It shows how mean people can be very sad and at some times. For ecample the author made dally sound very mean, but when Johnny died he was very sad and didn't want to live anymore so he got himself shot by the police.

ReplyDeleteAnother great piece of work! I like how you made it very descriptive, but for next time watch your spelling.
@Tomas Ward- good descrption from what happend
ReplyDeleteI think the most powerful passage in the book was when Ponyboy gets jumped by the socs. I think this because it shows Ponyboys struggle when being beat up by them. Also because it shows how mean people can be.
ReplyDeleteI think the most powerful passage in the book was when Johny dies in the hospital and Dally runs off and robs a grocery store. This is a sad and very profound moment. This event shows how Johnny is the closet person to Dally and without Johny, Dally doesn't want to live any longer. Dally deliberately has the police shoot him because he has given up on life.
ReplyDelete@game great job describing what the most powerful message was. Keep up all your unbelievable work.
